Parent & Community Partnerships

Parent and community partnerships are an integral part of the WPACES experience to enrich students' lives. We include on our yearly school calendar an array of activities and opportunities to partner with parents and the community.  A dedicated staff member serves as a parent liaison to collaborate with families in developing these events. We host monthly parent and family engagement nights called First Fridays, which include workshops and interactive activities that serve as a consistent opportunity to form positive relationships and build trust and connections between parents and WPACES staff.  We also host a variety of events, including our annual Harvest Festival, Literacy and Math Nights, and 76ers Night Out ,which encourage families to volunteer and participate in students' academic experience while also participating in fun school activities with their children. Our parents have also engaged in community activism, advocating for the rights of charter school parents. 

Community partnerships have included mentorship through the Mu Beta Phi fraternity, as well as after-school and weekend programming hosted by the Cobbs Creek Foundation and the Tiger Woods Foundation.  A variety of other community agencies have partnered with our school to provide programming during the school day and our First Friday events, including Pop Art and the Free Library of Philadelphia. 

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Meetings

The PTO actively supports the school’s instructional program and enhances community relations. The PTO sponsors yearly fundraisers, special events, and helps to subsidize field trips and other student activities.
