Can an Egg Bounce??????

Parents, as promised here are the instructions for performing the experiment for discussion for next week. . I would recommend using two eggs, just in case something happens to one. Take both eggs right out of the cartoon and place them in vinegar; pour just enough to cover the eggs. As young Scientist, students are to record their entire experiment from start to finish. Even the part about placing a white round object called an egg into a plastic clear cup with white distilled vinegar! Yes, that detailed!

Have fun and see you next week....

Assignment

In this Martha Speaks interactive story, learn how animal abilities have inspired inventions over the years. Birds inspired people to invent the first airplanes. A lizards sticky feet led to the invention of special glue for bandages. Chameleons helped give us the idea for camouflage clothing. When used as a part of Martha’s True Stories Buddies Program, buddy pairs engage with the interactive story, then talk and write about a new Animal Inspiration Invention.
Can you think of other animals that have inspired humans?

Many interesting inventions spring from the creative minds of kids when they are challenged to create a new tool. And kid inventors, just like their adult counterparts, must go through the design process to make their invention a reality.

You may want to have a ruler, measuring tape, or cloth tape measure (used for sewing) available for students to give the measurements on the eBook pages meaning. You could create opportunities for your students to use the ruler during the story. You might say, for example, "The block in the story is 10 inches long. Would you show me how long 10 inches is using your ruler?"
  2. You might want to have materials available that are similar to the materials Bobby and Carmen use in the story and a toy car. Your students and families might choose to imagine, plan, create and test their own track design.
