The Periodic Table Of Elements

Students will be introduced to the Periodic Table of Elements. All Living Things are made of Matter. Withe this, there are "Elements" or "Deposits" that exist that helps us to be as an effective country, nation and world. The Periodic Table of Elements are Elements that Naturally exists in the Earth. Many things are made up of these Elements. Your assignment is to Look at the Periodic table of Elements and do the following:

How Many Elements in total are there that make up the Periodic Table?

List three Elements, their Periodic Number and their uses. ( Here I want you to "FIND" what that element does for us. For Example: Oxygen is a gas that helps us the Breath)

Ok students. I know that we finished Weather last week and we also began our discussion on different Materials and their Properties. To ensure that you have a GOOD understanding of our Unit, you are required to answer only Severn of the questions listed on the attached sheet. Email the number and the responses to your teachers. You may use the computer if you "stumped" . As always, Have Fun and I will see you on Monday.

Due:

The Periodic Table of Elements Quiz

Students! I hope that you learned that ALL things are made up of Atoms. Attached you will find your quiz. It is "open book" and the link to the video is below.
You may have to "cut and paste" and add it to you browser. Good Luck! The quiz is attached.

What type of Ray is equivalent to the "Bluetooth" ray in video equipment?

Due:

Ozone Layer and the Atmosphere

Good morning students. So before this "Corona"outbreak, we talked alot about the Ozone Layer and the Atmosphere. Just to "jog" your memory; we talked about 65% of the damaging gases hurting our ozone layer comes from who? The Answer: Us. Humans. We inhale oxygen from trees and they receive carbon dioxide gas from the air. If we continue to cut down trees, we increase the amount of "bad" gases in the air that trees would normally filter out. Read the following article. I for extra credit you can answer the questions, but I want most, is your feelings regarding the article and what we know. One to two paragraphs will suffice.

P.S.
Please, please, please do not just write a line for example: " I liked the article because it was the truth". I want more than that. bring your feelings good or bad and give me something to think about! Thank you and Enjoy!!

I just found this article, Artificial light is playing havoc over Earth and disrupting normal cycles -

Your assignment will be to read the article and before going to bed tonight, look out your window and see if your can see come of these meteors flying in the night sky. It may take a few minutes for your eyes to adjust to catching the meteors fly but once you do you will be amazed at how fast they fly! post your numbers to me by Friday. Have fun and enjoy.

Assignment

Hello Students!. Mr. S here. Ok so now we are able to watch things in nature play themselves out. The assignment is to answer the "Why Do" or "Why Does" question and to post (2) two questions of your own so that everyone can learn from your findings. Remember to use Google to help ask the questions. So, I will  start us off:

Question 1: Why do birds "wash" themselves in dirt?

Question 2. Why does your body "ache" before it rains?

Have Fun and remember to do discuss your findings with your parent(s).

Due:

Assignment

JUST FOR FUN!!!!!!

Challenge Question: Why do humans stretch?

Joke of the Day: What do you call a fish without eyes?
Answer: FSH

Due:

Assignment

The pressure of the air around us changes constantly. These changes are
associated with changes in the weather. When the air pressure is high (also called
a high), the weather is mostly likely to be fair and clear. When the air pressure is
low (called a low), stormy weather is mostly likely in the forecast.
In this experiment, you will make your own barometer and use it for a week or
more to forecast weather in your area. While professional measure air pressure in
mg of mercury, you will be able to measure pressure by watching your pointer dip
up or down. By noting the position of your pointer and associating it with a
particular type of weather, you will be able to predict weather. This is a good
experiment to do if you live in an area where the weather changes frequently. If the
weather does not change much, consider doing a different experiment. Students will keep an active track of each day in their journals.

Assignment

Hey kids. In our continued efforts to study our weather, I have formulated several experiments / activities that you can do at home with your parents, as always! Today, our experiment / activity is creating one of tools used for measuring weather. It is called the "Barometric" pressure of the air. Students are to turn in a one paragraph paper defining what Barometric pressure is? Again, have fun!
