Kids Keeping Fit

WHO:            West Philadelphia Achievement Charter Elementary School (WPACES, pronounced W-P-ACES), SweatChasers

WHAT:          Mention “summer school,” and one of two things comes to mind for most people: enrichment or remediation. But for one area charter school, summer learning includes lessons in healthy living.

“Because West Philadelphia Achievement Charter Elementary School is committed to nurturing the whole child, we offer options to learn about healthy living over the summer when programs that fit our criteria become available,” WPACES Principal Michael Rombola said.

On Wednesday, WPACES students will learn how to incorporate the outdoors into a healthy routine. The lesson will be taught by local entrepreneur Rahsul Stinson, president of SweatChasers. Stinson uses natural resources such as trees, rocks, and fields to support his innovative fitness routines.  The event will be highly interactive, with students in kindergarten through 5th grade engaging in outdoor fitness activities and discussions about making healthy choices.
